Husband and wife, Jorge Ruz and Christina Baker are the owners of Hacienda Xcanatun which means Tall Stone House in the Mayan language. After successful business careers, the energetic duo turned their dreams into the splendidly restored Hacienda Xcanatun. They have successfully reconstructed the original estate, working solely with local materials such as hardwoods, wrought iron, clay and glass, marble and coral stone. The same care was taken with the hacienda’s gardens. Flowering bougainvillea now spill down walls and balconies, fruit trees, royal palms and beautiful local species have been added along with cut-stone paths and fountains. The original water reservoir has become one of the two swimming pools.
